Nick Rees

For more than 20 years Nick Rees has been a passionate advocate for the Natural Resources industry and the vital role it plays in shaping the modern world, both as an enabler of economic development and as a steward of natural capital. As the industry contends with the pressing demands of this age – climate change, sustainable development, resource depletion, population growth, capital availability, rising stakeholder expectations – Nick helps companies navigate these complex challenges and develop solutions that deliver long-term sustainable stakeholder value.

Nick is an experienced Natural Resources and finance executive with a strong track record in creating and leading multi-disciplinary teams, cultivating high-performance culture, and working collaboratively to deliver innovative solutions to complex problems. His approach is underpinned by authentic leadership, personal integrity, trusted relationships, global perspectives, strong academic credentials, unrelenting focus on customer service, a commitment to excellence and flawless execution, collaboration and clear communication.

Most recently Nick was Chief Development Officer for a small private Australian mining company with major European shareholders. Prior to this he was Global Head of Natural Resources at National Australia Bank responsible for all aspects of its Natural Resources business globally. This A$10 billion business spanned Metals & Mining, Oil & Gas, Commodity Trading and Resources-related Infrastructure. This followed nearly five years working in New York where Nick helped establish and led a Metals & Mining Project Finance business in the Americas for Commonwealth Bank of Australia. Before this, Nick held senior banking roles in Australia focused on Natural Resources.

Nick is a Member of The Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy, a Senior Associate of the Financial Services Institute of Australasia and a Signatory to The Banking and Finance Oath.
